Beirut, Lebanon

On Monday, the 23rd of August 2010, at 12:00 AM noon, the president of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan, accompanied by the ambassador of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Ashot Kocharian, the minister of education and science Mr. Vladik Khachatryan, the representative of the Artsakh Republic in the Middle East Mr. Karo Kebabjyan, the adviser to the President of the Artsakh Republic Mr. Armen Isagoulov and the head of the Central information Department of the Office of the Artsakh Republic President Mr. David Babayan, visited the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate. During the meeting, His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX Catholicos Patriarch made a speech in which he welcomed the president and he emphasized the firm relation between the diaspora and Artsakh, by mentioning particularly his patriarchal visit which he made in 2006 to Artsakh. The spiritual father talked also about the opening ceremony of the statue of St. Gregory the Illuminator that is placed in the Vatican square. Various well-known people and representatives from different communities as well as a large number of faithful people coming from other countries were present at the opening. This shows the unanimity of the Armenians. After the spiritual father’s speech, the president made his sincere impression on his visit. He also pointed out various problems that are worrying Karabagh and he called everybody for help in order to improve the situation of the Armenian nation. After the president’s speech, there was a short conversation with the people who were present there. At the end of the visit, the spiritual father and the president exchanged the souvenirs. After that, the president wrote a wish in the golden book of the patriarchate.
