Saturday, 19 April 2008 - The Producer of “The Lark Farm” Visited the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate

On Thursday the 17th of April 2008, the producer of the movie “The Lark Farm” Grazia Volpi and the representative of ANC Europe in Italy Aleko Bezigian, accompanied by the representative of the ANC Lebanon and the editor in chief of “Aztag” newspaper, visited the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate where they were received by His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics. During the meeting, parish priest of the Annunciation church father Vartan Kazandjian was also present.

“The Lark Farm” which is co-directed by the famous Italian Paolo and Vittorio Taviani brothers, written by Antonia Arslan and the main characters played by Paz Vega, Arsine Khanjian, Morits Bleibtreu and Angela Molina, is a film dedicated to the Armenian Genocide and has been shown in different international film festivals.

Grazia Volpi talked about the production and preparation of the movie and the different obstacles that it faced mostly caused by Turkey
 
that tried to stop the premiering of the movie in order to avoid controversy.
 

His Beatitude gave broad explanations to the Italian guest about Armenians in Italy in general and the Armenian Catholic community in particular. His Beatitude also talked about the opening ceremony of St. Gregory the Illuminator square in Vatican that took place on the 22nd of February by the blessings of the Holy Pontiff Benedict XVI.

At the end of the meeting, His Beatitude expressed words of appreciation and gratitude to His guest, presenting her a symbolic souvenir.
