Wednesday, 7 March 2007 - His Beatitude Nerses Bedros Returns From Rome

His Beatitude Nerses Bedros Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia for the Armenian Catholics had left to Rome on the 26th of February, 2007, along with His Excellency Father Hovhannes Teyrouzian, Assistant Bishop of the Eparchy of Beirut and Father Garabed Tateossian, parish priest of St. Savior Church.

On the first day of His visit, His Beatitude participated in the Assembly of the Permanent Synod, with the presence of all the bishop members. The Permanent synod is the highest council of the Catholic Patriarchate; it is the authoritative meeting of bishops for the purpose of church administration or governance, and it pursues the clerical matters of the Patriarchate.

In the coming days, His Beatitude participated in the annual meeting of the Administrative Committee of Levonian School. The Levonian School that has been preparing priests since 1882 kept its doors persistently open during the two World Wars and today has 9 newly ordained. Related to this meeting, His Beatitude visited Walter Veltroni, the mayor of Rome.

On the morning of February 28, His Beatitude participated in the Administrative Committee Council of Saint Vlas, and on the 3rd of March He held a meeting with the Administrative Committee of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate.

His Beatitude visited the presidents of several councils of the Vatican, such as Cardinal Walter Kasper, the President of the Council for Promoting Christian Unity; Cardinal Moussa Dawoud, President of the Council of Oriental Churches; Cardinal Attilio Nicora, the President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See and Cardinal Tarcisio Betrone, Cardinal Secretary of State of the Holy See.

His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX returned to His residence in Lebanon, in the afternoon of March 7, 2007.
