Kessab, Syria

Like every year, this year also the 8^th annual camp of «Ler» branch of H.G.M Kessab took place from Monday, the 31^st of August 2010, in the convent of «Sourp Asdvadzadzin» Armenian Apostolic Church in Eskuran village. 43 H.G.M. torch-bearers and boy scouts spent a unique and a special week in a warm and friendly atmosphere. This year, the camp was dedicated to the Historical Armenia as well as to its towns that characterized the entire program. Also, the five battalions were called Kars, Dvin, Van, Sasun and Ararat.

The torch-bearers and boy scouts, who were camping, organized different athletic, cultural and handwork activities. They also attended spiritual and national sermons. In addition, they said the Rosary and celebrated a Holy Mass.

At the end of the camp, a campfire was made in the presence of the spiritual leader Father Karekin Keushkerian, parish committee, representatives of sister associations as well as a large number of parents and H.G.M. members. The program included the flag ceremony, the scout songs; the association’s opening speech and an artistic performance. In the closing speech, Father Karekin Keushkerian talked about the camp theme (Historical Armenia) and said that « we remember and we remind of the names of our occupied towns so that we keep making claims until our rights and lands are returned». He thanked especially the present and former commanders, the members of the council and the parents. The campfire ended by lighting a fire and praying the Lord’s Prayer.
