On Monday the 29th of October 2007, His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX Catholicos Patriartch of Cilicia for Armenian Catholics received the ambassador of Egypt to Lebanon Ahmed Bidewi inside the Armenian Catholic Partriarchate. During the meeting the parish priest of Our Lady of Annunciation church Father Vartan Kazandjian was also present. 

His Beatitude and the Ambassador held a half hour meeting during which they discussed issues related to Lebanon and the presidential elections in particular. The Catholicos Patriarch expressed his viewpoints and concerns with respect to this issue, stressing the importance of respecting the Constitution and electing a new president. He underlined that the new president should be at an equal distance from all sides and should uphold Lebanon’s interests above all other interests.

In his turn the ambassador wished that the Lebanese leaders would agree upon holding presidential elections in normal circumstances to avoid complication of any further political crisis.

Born and lived in Egypt, His Beatitude gave broad information about Armenians living in Egypt and invited His honorable guest to visit the historical convent of Bzommar.
