Apostolic Exarchate Of Latin America


The eparchy was founded on July 3, 1981 by His Holiness John Paul II, in the days of His Beatitude Hemaiag Bedros XVII. The first prelate was His Eminence Mgr. Vartan W. Boghossian.
Only the first one was the prelate from the beginning till today.

The actual approximate number of the eparchy members is 14.000 faithful.

The eparchy is constituted of two parishes:
1.- The Armenian Catholic Parish St. Gregory the Illuminator. The parish priest is Mgr. Boghos Hakimian.
2.- The Armenian Catholic Parish Our Lady of Bzommar. The parish priest is the Father Andon Ketchedjian.

The eparchy has two churches:
The Armenian Catholic Cathedral St. Gregory the Illuminator.
The Armenian Catholic Cathedral Our Lady of Bzommar.
The juvenile, cultural, sportive and ladies organizations who work inside the eparchy are: the parish choral in San Paolo. There is no school inside the eparchy.

The artistic organizations, choral, theater and dancing groups who work inside the eparchy are: the commission of Gentlemen of the two parishes.

There are no benevolent organizations: congregation, orphanage and dispensary inside the eparchy.

Its publication activity includes a parish bulletin in Montevideo.

The eparchy does not participate on the Armenian Community level and on the international level.

There are no preaching means: television, radio, internet that the eparchy provides.

The list of the famous personalities in the communal, national and governmental life includes:
In Brazil : Mr. Carlos Kherlakian who is a deputy And Mr. Fernando Gasparian who is also a deputy.
