Friday, 19 September 2008 - Meeting with the Members of the Focolare Movement
On Wednesday the 17th of September 2008, at 9:00 pm, 35 members of the Focolare Movement and bioshops from 16 different countries lead by Cardinal Vlk, former archbishop of Prague, visited the convent of Bzommar.
The delegation was received by His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics.
Cardinal Vlk presented and gave broad information about the Focolare Movement founded by the late Chiara Lubich, which aims at spreading the word of God and seeks to contribute to peace and to achieve the spiritual unity of all people in every social environment. Cardinal Vlk stated that Lebanon being a country full of diversity is an exceptional place for such gatherings.
In his turn, His Beatitude spoke about the Armenian Catholic Church and its establishment since 1742. His Beatitude invited the bishop fathers of the Holy Synod to talk about their individual experiences with the movement after which the guest bishops spoke about their impressions.
At the end of the meeting, the guests moved to Our Lady of Assumption church in Bzommar, where each prayed in his own language which created a mystical atomosphere.
