On Tuesday, the 1st of May 2007, the representatives of the Italian Episcopal Conference visited the convent of Bzommar. The aim of their visit was to get acquainted with the Christian communities in Lebanon and to establish a link with the youth. During their one week visit, they visited the historical sites and the churches in Lebanon.
The committee members were received by His Beatitude the Catholicos Patriarch Nerses Bedros XIX, the High Priest of Bzommar Father Kevork Yeghyaian, Father Antranig Granian and Mr. Sarkis Najarian.
The delegation was led by the Archbishop of Trento His Excellency Father Luigi Bressan, accompanying him Msgr. Guiseppe Pellegrini, Don Valerio Bersano, Msgr. Bruno Stenco and Don. Vittorio Sozzi. The guests sat for an interview with His Beatitude and presented Him a symbolic wall hanging.
After that the guests tasted the wine of Bzommar and sat for lunch. After the welcoming speech of Father Yeghyaian, Father Luigi Bressan thanked everybody and wished them success and perseverance. After lunch the guest visited the different divisions of the convent as well as the museums.
The honorable guests left the convent with great impressions gaining a new experience and getting to know the Armenian Catholic Church at close. One of them stated; “We used to hear about the presence of Christians in the east, but this visit gave us the opportunity to know them closely and if previously we used to hear about them on TV, now it’s time that all of us work together”.
