The Eparchy Damascus-Syria
Damascus - Syria Eparchies
The unions were:
Two choirs: Knar which spoke Armenian and Siro Tsayner which spoke Arabic.
H.G.M. , Ladies union.
Juvenile movement which was composed of 50 members.
Benevolent committee.
Conference and economic committee.
School committee.
Scout movement which was composed of 200 members.
Three fraternities of ladies, St. Rita, Holiest Heart of Jesus and Mary, and the Precious Blood.

The schools were:
Dzaghgants College. It was a kindergarten and included 250 students. Tel: 5432680-5412185

Paros. It was an elementary school with 500 students.
Tel: 5418246-5432895

Light College. It was a secondary school with 700 students
Tel: 5423985

The principal events were:
First of all, the Cardinal Patriarch-Catholicos Krikor – Bedros XV Aghadjanian's historical visit to Damascus on 21-25 October 1955.

The historical and pastoral visit of the Patriarch- Catholicos Hovhannes – Bedros XVIII Kasbarian to Damascus in 1984.

On 5-8 May 2001, the Pope Hovhannes –Boghos II visited Damascus on 8.5.2001. He accepted the Armenian Catholic hierarchy in the embassy by the supremacy of the priest with three bishops and a clergyman. After the speech of the priest, there was an exchange of gifts.



The figures were:
Hrant Bey Maloyan, born in 1896 in Constantinople. He was named officer colonel in 1945 in Syria, and played a big military and political role. He was the chief of the army and the police. He received many medals. He died in Damascus on 24.7.1978.

The famous benefactor family of Jerusalem. It was from the ancient families of Damascus. The first document was written in 1830.
The most famous benefactors were:
Elias Koudsi, born in 1848. He died in 1938
Habib Koudsi, from 1890-1956. He received a pontifical medal.
Miss Mari Koudsi from 1884-1959
Jean Koudsi from 1893-1971, he received a pontifical medal in 1961 and he was a national benefactor.

A family from Kashisho from 1770 till today.
It gave benefactors to the community, intellectuals, lawyer Louis Kashisho who received a pontifical medal.

Bedros Keshishian family and sons. Father Sahag, son of Artine Keshishian, from the Jesuit congregation, he translated into French our Fathers, Nerses Shnorhali and Krikor Nareg’s books.

Kevork Brounsouzian family and sons.
Mihran Ghazarian family and sons.
Nshan Sarafian family
Saroyan family who gave cenobite Father Antoine Zmmarian and musicians.
Hagop Aslo, benefactor with a pontifical medal.
Sdepan Basmadjian, a benefactor.
Antoine Affaki, a church benefactor.
