Michael Petros III Kasbarian |
(1753-1780) |
The founder of Bzommar church
He was from Aleppo. As the previous one, he was also member of St. Antoine's order.
He dedicated himself to the internal development of his Seat, because of the pursuits which limited his external activities.
In his days, the convent of Bzommar had not a church yet. The big events were taking place in the church of Kreim.
He succeeded to construct the monk church (1761-1771), to which he added other constructions, in such a way that the missioner Petros di Moretta witnessed in 1776 that Bzommar convent "was the biggest construction on the neighboring mountains".
In the days of Michael III, there was a need of having missioners for the Patriarchate Seat. Indeed, in the Armenian custom, each patriarchate must have missioners for its Seat, who constitute its active camp. Patriarch Ardzivian who founded St. Antoine's order, hoped to join it to his Seat. But, the Antonins had decided to be independent from the patriarchal Seat, preferring to give patriarchs for the Seat rather than belong to them.
