On Thursday, the 10^th of February 2011, at 11:20 AM, the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School educational journalism students’ group organized an event dedicated to the Artsakh liberation fight, in the school’s «Farajian» auditorium.

The school principal, the guest speaker, the teachers of the secondary section, the members of the administrative staff and the 10^th to 12^th grades students were present at the event. 

The opening speech of the event was made by Melkon Eleydjian who is a member of the educational journalism students’ group.

The opening speech was followed by Avedis Isahagian’s poem «The Day of the Great Victory» that was recited by Araz Cherchian. Then, a video montage made by Sarkis Halladjian was shown about the historical development of the Artsakh liberation fight.  

The speaker of the day Mr. Alexan Keushgerian made a speech in which he first thanked the school principal and the event organizers’ group by saying « the most important step taken in the Armenian liberation fight is the liberation of Karabakh ». Then, Mr. Keushgerian narrated the brief history of Artsakh and continued his speech by saying «Armenia’s people, who were guided by the intelligentsia, demonstrated by peaceful means for uniting Karabakh with Armenia. Our generation had a chance to witness the fight for that claim. I was sure that the fight was going to be victorious because the whole nation was united and was making the same claim. The peaceful demonstrations weren’t fruitful. And Azerbaijan’s answer to these demonstrations was the massacres of Sumgayit and Baku as well as the deportations in large numbers. In addition, a terrible earthquake came to aggravate this situation. But we were always sure that the Azeri can’t massacre an Armenian who is fighting for his land, family and honor».

At the end of the speech, the student Cynthia Arapgirlian sang the song «Kedashen». After that, the school principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust made a speech by saying «I congratulate the educational journalism students’ group on taking this initiative and encouraging the national spirit in the school by organizing successive events ». Then, the principal thanked the speaker of the day and he ended his speech by saying « I want you to have the will of a native of Karabakh to fight. Have a will to specialize in good majors and if necessary, to help to strengthen Artsakh, the fatherland and Javakhk ».
